Gref Ford teaches Alexander Technique Camperdown Sydney

ABOUT GREG

Greg has been teaching the Alexander Technique since 1986. He was introduced to the work when, as a student at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, he was suffering from chronic pain and tension. After breaking his left wrist in 1982 after one rehearsal of a 12 month contract with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, he began having regular Alexander lessons with Judy Champ in Sydney and during this time his aches and niggling pain disappeared. It was 9 months after the break, before he was able to play again.

Greg teaches private lessons, small group classes and corporate workshops. Past workshops and classes have been with: Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia, NSW Police Band, Australian Institute of Music, staff at Royal Prince Alfred and Prince of Wales Hospital, Year 12 performance classes. He has also been a senior teacher on Alexander Technique teacher training courses in Melbourne and Sydney.

As well as teaching  Alexander Technique he also has a busy career as an orchestral and chamber musician playing with most of the leading orchestras in Australia including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, Sinfonia Australis, Gagliano String Quartet and many more. In 2023 he played in the Queensland Symphony for Opera Australia's Ring Cycle and in 2025 is continuing a busy freelance career in Sydney.

Greg works extensively with musicians, actors and other performers but is equally interested and experienced with working with people who have come for AT to deal with pain, RSI, anxiety related to their every day lives etc. Sometimes people come without specific issues but out of curiosity and a desire to maximise their health and wellbeing.
